Set high in the Green Mountains at over 2,000 feet elevation, Woodford State Park is a quiet, forested escape nestled around the pristine waters of Adams Reservoir. Located just outside of Bennington, this remote-feeling state park is one of Vermont’s highest-elevation campgrounds — and one of its most peaceful.

Surrounded by 400+ acres of dense hardwood forest, Woodford offers a back-to-basics camping experience where the modern world fades into the background. Whether you're paddling across glassy waters, hiking through vibrant fall foliage, or simply listening to loons call at dusk, Woodford State Park is the kind of place where you feel deeply connected to nature.

Woodford State Park offers a classic, rustic Vermont camping experience. The campground is wooded, quiet, and spacious — with campsites tucked beneath towering trees and many offering views or easy access to the lake.

Campground features include:

  • 76 total campsites
    • Tent/RV sites (no hookups)
    • 20 lean-to shelters for weatherproof camping
    • 4 rustic cabins (heated, no plumbing)
  • Clean restrooms with flush toilets and coin-operated hot showers
  • Dump station available
  • Picnic tables and fire rings at each site
  • Drinking water spigots throughout the park
  • Pet-friendly (on-leash in designated areas)
  • Quiet hours observed for a tranquil experience

Sites are private and shaded, making this an ideal retreat for campers who value peace, simplicity, and the sound of the forest.

At the heart of Woodford is Adams Reservoir — a spring-fed lake perfect for paddling, swimming, and shoreline relaxing. With no motorboats allowed, the lake stays calm and clear — a haven for wildlife and a paddler’s dream.

  • Canoeing, kayaking & paddleboarding (rentals available at the park office)
  • Swimming from the designated beach area

  • Hiking the 2.7-mile Adams Reservoir Loop Trail — scenic and beginner-friendly

Seasonal Operation:
Open Memorial Day Weekend – Indigenous Peoples’ Day (October)
Check-in: 2:00 PM | Check-out: 11:00 AM
Quiet Hours: 10:00 PM – 7:00 AM

Reservations highly recommended, especially for lean-tos and cabins. Book online through the Vermont State Parks website or by calling the reservation center.
