Surrounded by dense forest and centered around the pristine, undeveloped Kettle Pond, this park offers a truly back-to-nature experience in one of Vermont’s most beloved wilderness areas.

Whether you're seeking solitude or outdoor adventure, Kettle Pond’s remote charm and natural beauty make it a top destination for camping and exploring the Northeast Kingdom.

THE CAMPGROUND

Kettle Pond State Park offers a unique, rustic camping experience that brings you closer to the natural world. The campground features 26 lean-to shelters, several remote paddle-in campsites, and a peaceful atmosphere without the distractions of modern life — there’s no electricity, so you can truly unplug and relax.

Each site is equipped with a fire ring and access to nearby composting toilets and hand-pumped water. The lean-tos are perfect for families, small groups, and anyone looking to sleep under the stars with a bit more shelter than a tent.

Kettle Pond is a non-motorized body of water, keeping things tranquil for canoeing, kayaking, and wildlife spotting. Loons, moose, and a variety of birds are often seen around the pond, making this a perfect location for nature photographers and wildlife enthusiasts.

OUTDOOR ADVENTURES & ACTIVITIES

From sunrise paddles to twilight hikes, Kettle Pond State Park is an adventurer’s dream. Paddle across the calm waters of Kettle Pond, explore the nearby hiking trails within Groton State Forest, or spend the afternoon birdwatching along the shoreline.

The park offers access to miles of scenic trails, including the Montpelier-Wells River Rail Trail and hikes to nearby peaks like Owl’s Head and Big Deer Mountain.
