Accessible only by boat, this undeveloped island offers solitude, shoreline views, and a true back-to-nature atmosphere. THE CAMPGROUND

Woods Island State Park Campground is truly one-of-a-kind. With just five remote campsites, this boat-access-only campground offers a rustic, private, and wild camping experience. It’s camping the way it used to be—just you, your gear, and nature.

Campground features include:

• Five primitive tent sites
• Fire rings and picnic tables at each site
• Composting toilets (no showers or potable water—pack in what you need)
• Shoreline access for fishing, swimming, and launching small boats or kayaks
• A quiet, no-vehicle environment perfect for disconnecting

No roads, no RVs, and no crowds—just the sound of lapping waves, rustling leaves, and birdsong.

LOCAL ADVENTURES

While the island itself offers plenty to explore, its location on Lake Champlain opens the door to unique adventures:

• Paddling & Boating – Reach the island via kayak, canoe, or small boat. A truly scenic journey from access points like Kill Kare State Park or St. Albans Bay.
• Fishing – Lake Champlain is home to bass, pike, and panfish—cast your line right from shore.
• Bird Watching – A great spot for spotting eagles, herons, and migratory birds, especially in spring and fall.
• Island Exploration – Walk the wooded paths and enjoy the secluded shoreline of Woods Island itself.
